Hello – and thanks for visiting my website!
I’m Nick – a Freelance Copywriter, Editor and Communications Consultant based in the UK, but working remotely.
I have more than a decade’s worth of marketing and communications experience across a wide range of sectors including sport, higher education, environment, travel, hospitality, tech, finance and eCommerce.
But how did I get here?
The truth is, I’ve always been destined to be a writer!
From hoarding sports magazines and newspapers as a kid and writing race reports for Athletics Weekly magazine as a teenager to becoming Sport Editor for Redbrick (the University of Birmingham’s weekly student newspaper) as a student, I’ve always been interested in writing, journalism and storytelling.
After graduating with a degree in History from the University of Birmingham and a master’s in Print Journalism from the University of Sheffield, I joined British Athletics as a Media Officer before switching to England Athletics (including working at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games – an awesome experience!).
I went on to lead marketing and communications teams at the University of Sheffield, Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust and Punch Pubs.
All of these roles have included editing their respective magazines (Your University, Kingfisher and The Round) – something which I absolutely love!
Taking the leap into full time freelancing in 2019 was one of the best decisions I ever made. Since then, I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, in industries such as higher education, eCommerce, travel, hospitality, tech, and financial services – and have loved every minute.

In 2021, I did something I’ve always wanted to do and combined my love of sport with my love of all things writing and editing, and founded my second business – Performance Journals.
Away from work, I love all kinds of sport (especially running, climbing and football) as well as travelling and the outdoors.
But that’s enough about me…
