Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust is a registered charity and part of a national network of 46 Wildlife Trusts across the UK.
As Marketing & Communications Manager, I led a small team, edited the Trust’s membership magazine, Kingfisher, and led organisational brand refresh and web development projects.
For nature, for everyone
When I arrived at the Trust, it was clear that it needed a fresh, new identity to provide consistency across its huge range of projects.
The new identity needed to be recognisable under the national Wildlife Trusts umbrella, whilst adding in an energetic ‘flavour’ unique to Sheffield & Rotherham.
To achieve this, I worked with a local design agency to refresh the Trust’s branding and develop a new set of marketing materials.
This also involved establishing a new tagline, tone of voice, visual identity guidelines and an internal communications toolkit to ensure quality and consistency of branding and strengthen public awareness.
Once the new branding was ready, I used it to inspire a refreshed Kingfisher magazine as well as a brand new website for the Trust.
A Fresh Online Presence
To help with this project, I worked with a local agency and recruited a new team member who I worked with to reorganise, reduce and simplify the site’s content – and our efforts really paid off!
The new website made day-to-day administration easier, improved important user journeys and showcases the Trust’s amazing range of wildlife photography.
The combination of this new platform and a targeted digital marketing campaign saw new online memberships increase by more than 1,000%!
While at the Trust, I also oversaw the growth of the communications team and worked with the CEO on various regional PR campaigns to help protect wild spaces.
